Symptom

When you view a sitemap.xml file created by the XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress plugin you get the following error;

Error loading stylesheet: An XSLT stylesheet does not have an XML mimetype:

Cause

The .xsl file extension is not recognized by your web server

Solution

Add the following to your .htacess file;

AddType application/xml .xsl
