This guide explains how to setup a custom filter on your Ecenica Hosting account to apply SpamAssassin filtering to an individual email address instead of the default setup of all email addresses on your account.

Setup a Spam Filter for a single email account

1. Login to your Ecenica Hosting cPanel
2. Click Spam Assassin
3. Click Enable SpamAssassin
4. Check Spam Box is currently Disabled
5. Click Home to return to the cPanel home screen
6. Click User Level Filtering
7. Click Manage Filters for the email address you wish to apply spam filtering to
8. Click Create a New Filter
9. Enter a Filter Name. For example, SpamFilter
10. From the rules drop down list, select Spam Status
11. Select begins with
12. Enter Yes
13. From the actions drop down list, select Deliver to folder
14. Enter /.spam
15. Click Create

The filter will now automatically move any emails marked as Spam by the Ecenica SpamAssassin spam filter to your spam folder for this single email address.

How-to create a filter based on spam score

You can create a filter that will only apply to messages marked with a certain spam score. This allows you to fine tune and choose the exact spam level your user filter will run at.

1. Login to your Ecenica Hosting cPanel
2. Click Spam Assassin
3. Click Enable SpamAssassin
4. Check Spam Box is currently Disabled
5. Click Home to return to the cPanel home screen
6. Click User Level Filtering
7. Click Manage Filters for the email address you wish to apply spam filtering to
8. Click Create a New Filter
9. Enter a Filter Name. For example, SpamFilter
10. From the rules drop down list, select Spam Bar
11. Select contains
12. Enter +++++
    Note, this will filter emails at a spam score of 5 or more. To filter at a spam score 2 use 2 ++ symbols. The maximum spam score is 10 and the minimum is 1. 10 is the weakest (most spam will be let through) and 1 is the strongest (most normal email may be filtered)
13. From the actions drop down list, select Deliver to folder
14. Enter /.spam
15. Click Create
