Summary

Step-by-step instructions to setup Apple Mail using IMAP to send and receive email using your Ecenica Hosting email address and your Mac.

Before you start checklist

Have the following details ready before you start:

• Your domain name
• Your email address
• Your email password

Configure IMAP in Apple Mail

1. Click Mail and select Preferences
2. Click Accounts and then click the plus sign + at the bottom of the window
3. Enter your name, full email address including domain, e.g. john@yourdomain.com and your mailbox password. Click Continue
4. Apple Mail will warn that it cannot verify the identity of your domain. Click Connect
5. Select IMAP then enter any description for your mailbox. e.g John.
6. Enter mail.example.com for the incoming server replacing ‘example.com’ with your domain.
7. Enter your full email address for the username. e.g. info@example.com and your mailbox password.
8. Click Continue
9. Apple Mail will warn that it cannot verify the identity of your domain. Click Connect
10. Enter a description for the outgoing server. E.g. yourdomain.com
11. Enter mail.yourdomain.com for the outgoing server replacing ‘yourdomain.com’ with your plan’s domain. Tick Use only this server
12. Tick Use Authentication is ticked. Enter your full email address for the user name. e.g. info@yourdomain.com and your mailbox password.
13. Click Continue. Mail will now check for your incoming server. Click Cancel then Continue.
14. Untick Take account online and click Create
15. Select your new mailbox from the left.
16. Under ‘Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) select Edit SMTP Server List
17. Select your Ecenica Hosting Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
18. Click Advanced
19. Untick Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Click OK.
20. Click the Advanced tab
21. Untick Use SSL
22. Your account is now setup. Close the Accounts screen and click Save. Click Get Mail to activate your account.
