Summary
If you are having difficulties connecting to your email using your PC/Mac email application or iPhone then it could be due to a problem with the incoming mail server or outgoing mail server settings. The steps below will help you check your settings in a number of email applications.
Note: When using a Ecenica Hosting email account your incoming/outgoing mail server is mail.yourdomain.com, replacing yourdomain.com with your actual account domain.
Checking your email server settings
Apple Mail
- Select the Mail menu and click Preferences
- Click the Accounts tab.
- Select your Ecenica Hosting email account on the left.
- Check that the Incoming Mail Server is set to mail.yourdomain.com.
- Click the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) list and click Edit SMTP Server List
- Select your Ecenica Hosting SMTP server.
- Check that the Server Name is set to mail.yourdomain.com.
- Click OK.
Apple iPhone
- Choose Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calandars.
- Tap your Ecenica Hosting email account.
- Scroll down to Incoming Mail Server.
- Check the Host Name is set to mail.yourdomain.com and User name is your email address.
- Scroll down and tap SMTP
- Tap the Primary Server
- Check the Host Name is set to mail.yourdomain.com and User name is your email address.
- Press the Home button to exit.
Outlook 2007
- Select the Tools menu and click Account Settings….
- Select your Ecenica Hosting email account and click Change.
- Check the following:
- Incoming mail server is set to mail.yourdomain.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP) is set to mail.yourdomain.com.
- Click Next, then Finish and then Close.
Outlook 2003
- Select the Tools menu and click E-mail Accounts.
- Select View or change existing e-mail accounts then click Next
- Select your Ecenica Hosting email account and click Change.
- Check the following:
- Incoming mail server (POP3) is set to mail.yourdomain.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP) is set to mail.yourdomain.com
- Click Next and then Finish.
Outlook Express / Windows Mail / Windows Live Mail
- Select the Tools menu and click Accounts.
- Select your Ecenica Hosting email account and click Properties.
- Click the Servers tab.
- Check the following:
- Incoming mail (POP3) is set to mail.yourdomain.com
- Outgoing mail (SMTP) is set to mail.yourdomain.com
- Click OK to save then Close.
Microsoft Entourage
- Select the Tools menu then click Accounts
- Double click your Ecenica Hosting email account.
- Check the following:
- Receiving mail server is set to mail.yourdomain.com
- SMTP server is set to mail.yourdomain.com
- Click OK to save.
